Chapter Eleven

“WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE, MASTER COBRA?” Tasha looked around the room, decadent and dark with splashes of red against the black decor. It shouted debauchery. Her heart missed a beat as he placed his fingers against her lips.

“Enough talking. Now, kiss me. I think it’s time for you to be taught a lesson.”

Tasha’s eyes narrowed. “You just punished me. Now you want to teach me a lesson?”

“A lesson in letting go of your emotional demons and really being here in the moment with me.” His gaze turned turbulent as she stiffened against him. “No, Snow, here at this moment. No thoughts of the past. If this is going to work between us, we have to look forward, share new experiences and make new and lasting memories.”

Tasha’s eyes darkened as she struggled with the joy threatening to overcome her. He sounded so sure, like he was offering her permanency, happiness even—except, how did she push aside the hurt he had caused? Her breath mingled with his as she whispered against his lips, “You know as well as I do that the past defines who we’ve become, Stepan.”

“No, Tasha. The past doesn’t have to define who we are and what we want to be. Neither of us want to live there anymore. Let’s shed that toxic life and move on. We don’t have to let anyone else control our future. Both of us can become the masters of our own destiny.”

“What are you saying, Stepan?”

“I’m saying, for tonight let there just be the two of us. A Master and his sub. Two people drunk on the emotions that flow from the sensations sparking between them.” He smiled as he settled on the bed beside her. “Let’s enjoy the moment, love, and then allow tomorrow to take care of itself.

“I...” She stared into his eyes, watching the sparks of desire like flashes of lightning. An entreaty, a gentle yearning to lower the volume of noise between them—to give him another chance. Maybe even to forgive and forget. Tasha surrendered with a sigh that floated from her lips. “I can’t think of a better way to end the evening, Master Cobra.”

Like a sorcerer, he suddenly stood naked. Before she could gather her wits at the sight of his tanned and muscled physique, his strong arms pulled her into an embrace.

Tasha capitulated immediately to drift on a surging tide of warmth as he fisted a tuft of hair and kissed her. Softly at first and then with demanding passion. She clung onto him as a wave of emotions rushed over her. This was what she had wanted; to be treasured by the man she still loved. Her lips blossomed, openening under his demanding mouth, sending wild quakes along her nerves, eliciting the intimate sensations he always managed to awaken.

“You have no idea what it does to me to lose myself in the beauty that is you, Snow,” he murmured against the curve of her throat as he languorously moved his lips lower to nibble on the turgid peaks of her tingling breasts.
